When they formed Victory 15 years ago, Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet were part of the beginning of the craft beer revolution. Now, Victory is one of the top breweries in the country, distributing its award-winning brews to drinkers across the nation.

Victory’s success left the two looking for a new challenge – something else to make their company stand out among the growing number of craft breweries (and fulfill their yearning for new thrills). Bill found his inspiration for their newest venture during his recent trip to South by Southwest.

He was sipping on a cool Headwaters Pale Ale, watching the sunset and wondering if anything could make the moment better. Then the band on stage started playing, and he knew.

Music. People are as passionate about their music as they are about their beer, so expanding Victory into the music world made perfect sense.

We here at Victory are pleased to announce the formation of Bill and Ron’s newest venture, a ukulele duo called The Ukes of Hazzard.

Deciding on the instrumentation of the band was easy, since the ukulele is the only instrument they can both play. They’ve been rehearsing diligently, and as the office staff can attest, they’ve gotten much better. Good enough, in fact, that we are also happy to announce their first brewpub tour.

The first show will be at the Victory Brewpub in May. To get all of their tour dates and locations, along with a signed Ukes of Hazzard poster from “Bo and Luke Uke,” fill out this short form. [Link has been removed]

Kudos! I have been waiting for this announcement ever since I visited the brewpub last month. I saw you guys playing around with those little guitars in the beer room and was wondering what was going on. Can't wait to see you for real.

Hey .. you guys should do a set on the amphi-theater stage at this year's
Beer-On-The-Bay (Presque Isle, Erie). That would be cool! You're going
to be there anyway with your brew, so why not?

The Victory Brewing Story

The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby. That same year (1985), Bill gave Ron a home brewing kit as a Christmas gift. With that, both Bill and Ron developed their love of the craft…
