Meet Victory: Greg

Meet Greg, our Colorado Sales Rep, just in time for the Great American Beer Festival! When he’s not busy making sure everyone in Colorado is familiar with our damn good beer, he’s reppin’ his PA hometown.

How long have you worked here at Victory?  It’s been almost a year and a half.

What is the best thing about your job? And the worst?  The best thing is I represent my hometown brewery in the place I’ve lived for the past 10 years.  And I get to go home twice a year to see my family and friends.  There isn’t too much bad about my job.

Finish this sentence: Beer is…Paying my bills.  And delicious.

What’s the best gift you ever gave?  A diamond ring for Christmas, to my now wife.

What, if anything, have you ever re-gifted?

Can you play any instruments?  I have zero abilities to play any instrument.  I do however play a mean air guitar to Neil Young songs.

What was the worst punishment you received at school?  5-day in school suspension for saying the f word.  7th grade was a tough year for me.

What was your childhood nickname?  I never had nicknames until I started drinking, for obvious reasons. I’m known in the Victory circles as ‘Deuce’.

What’s the last book you read? I just finished the biography of David Bowie this weekend.  Next is the story of the Allman Brothers.

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?  I wish I could’ve witnessed the Phillies winning the World Series in 2008, in person.  Sitting on my couch just wasn’t the same.  And I’m pretty pumped to watch the E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES win the Super Bowl this year!  Go Birds!!

What is your favorite Victory beer and food pairing?  Prima Pils with a Wawa Classic Italian hoagie.

Who is your celebrity crush?  That changes by the hour, but Jennifer Lawrence takes the cake.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?  In the words of the great Tom Petty, ‘even the losers, get lucky sometimes.’

The Victory Brewing Story

The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby. That same year (1985), Bill gave Ron a home brewing kit as a Christmas gift. With that, both Bill and Ron developed their love of the craft…
