Inaugural Kölsch Cup @ Gordon Biersch Navy Yard | Washington | District of Columbia | United States

Gordon Biersch Navy Yard is hosting the 1st Annual Kölsch Cup Challenge and Tastival. The event will take place June 15 and run for four hours, from 12 to 4pm. For $20 you receive ten 6-oz Kölsch samples and a souvenir GB Kölsch glass. Additional sample tickets will be sold for $2.

Summer in DC is the perfect climate for enjoying Kölsch-style ales. In honor of this elegant German ale, GB Navy Yard will host the 1st Annual Kölsch Cup Challenge and Tastival. 21 different draft interpretations of kölsch-style ale have been brewed.

Beer Judges Certification Program judges will rank the top three beers and award the number one beer brewery with the prized Kölsch Cup.

To honor Father’s Day, Gordon Biersch Navy Yard will give a portion of the event’s proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.

The Victory Brewing Story

The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby.
