Alla Spina Halfway IPA
Session Double IPA
Working with famed chef, Marc Vetri, we designed this recipe to be a lightly sweet, unique Session Double IPA. The beer itself was born from our love of Double IPAs and Session IPAs, and we love trends as much as the next guy so we figured we’d “hop” on that wagon (get it, because of hops). However, it’s no secret that DIPAs aren’t the best for long term drinkin’, and Session IPAs don’t always pack enough punch, especially alongside bar food.
So we came up with a revolutionary idea to COMBINE the two styles!! Imagine a beer somewhere between a session and a double: fresh, hoppy, medium-bodied and deliciously drinkable at around 6% abv?? What would that be called… hmm… it’s so unique we don’t know…a Double Session of sorts? A Session Double? Tough one. To us it strikes just the right balance between the two parent styles so we’re simply calling it Halfway IPA!
Malt: Two row German malts
Hops: Azacca, ADHA 484
Tangy pineapple, green melon, pomegranate and cranberries all present in the aroma. Quite the diverse selection of fruits all driven from the utilization of the Azacca and ADHA 484 hops. Similar bright fruit on the pallet with a sweetness from the light crystal malt. Combining with the hops to form an almost "cherry-like" flavor. Very unique.
Occasionally available on draft.
