World’s Best Beer Trip Winner Takes Off

Kentucky native Jordan Flinchum sets off on beer adventure to six breweries across five continents in four weeks.

DOWNINGTOWN, PA, January 10, 2014 – Victory Brewing Company (Victory) has teamed up with some of the world’s leading craft breweries to send one lucky beer lover, Jordan Flinchum of California, Kentucky, on a beer trip of a lifetime, touring six of the world’s best craft breweries across five countries in four weeks.WBBT_Cropped

Setting off today, Jordan, who won the trip after receiving the most fan votes in a social media contest orchestrated by Victory, as well as 4 Pines Brewing Company (Sydney, Australia), Feral Brewing Company (Perth, Australia), Good George Brewing (Hamilton, New Zealand), Meantime Brewing (London, England) and The Brew (Shanghai, China), will be flown craft beer class (economy) on a round-the-world ticket, stopping at each participating brewery.  Heading first to New Zealand before Sydney and then Perth, Australia, Jordan will next fly to Shanghai and then London, before finally back to the United States. While visiting each brewery, Jordan will get a first-hand look at what it takes to keep each operation ticking, as well as enjoy the craft beer culture of the host city. And, of course, drink world-class beer from around the globe, in the process.

“Craft beer and travelling have been my two biggest passions for many years, so being able to combine them on such an epic scale truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Jordan. “I couldn’t be more excited to check out some of the best craft brews from around the world.”

During the contest, fans from the participating breweries competed against each other to see who could earn the most votes, after being asked to share a photo and 50-word caption explaining why they deserved to win the Worlds Best Beer Trip at In the end, Jordan’s caption and travel philosophy resonated with craft brew fans from around the world and now he will have the opportunity to document his trip every sip of the way.

He will set off on an incredible brewing adventure that will take him around the world and back into his backyard to taste some of the best craft beer being brewed,” said President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski.

The Victory Brewing Story

The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby.
